Details

Luhr Jensen Hot Shots are self-planing, diving lures designed with a built-in deep-diving planning bill which makes it dive when pulled through the water - the faster they are pulled, the deeper they dive. These lures feature a compact body, high quality, 2X strong trebles, and quick, wide and aggressive action. Hot Shots have become a staple of steelhead, trout and salmon anglers alike.

Hot Shot lures are primarily backtrolled for river steelhead and salmon. The smaller sizes are outstanding as trolling lures in lakes or drift-fished lures in streams for trout. For trout, fish them behind a lake troll or flat line them far behind the boat on lakes, cast them cross-current and allow them to swing through likely holding spots on rivers. 'Tune' each lure for maximum success by making small adjustments to the screw-eye line attachment (if the lure runs to one side, slightly rotate the top of the screw eye in the opposite direction). In any application, brace yourself for savage strikes.

  • Designed for trout, bass, salmon, and steelhead applications
  • High action trolling and back trolling plug
  • Diver that floats at rest
  • Round bend treble hooks
  • Qty. per pack: 1

Hot Shot 30

by Steely Dan -

Perfect plug for fast and/or shallow water. Always try to have at least one of these out. Almost no current is too fast for these. All the colors have hooked up, but the metallic green or pink are my top producers. When the river is a little dirtier than green, the Hot Shot 35s have rattles and produce equally as well.

Best Backtrolling Lure

by RiverRat -

This is the best backtrolling lure I have found yet. I have used hot-n-tots, wiggle warts and others but the Hot Shot outperforms 2:1 almost everytime. However, these lures are expensive and they hurt the budget when you loose a couple.

Hot Shots 2 123movies

my favourite lure fullstop for kayak trolling. I can paddle up to 3knots and it handles any speed up to this no worries at all (possibly more) Flathead and whiting just cant resist it (even small whiting like 15cm)

A good fish catcher but price is going up and quality going down

by Patrick W

I've been using the #30 Hot Shot lures for many years for steelhead in small to medium size rivers in Michigan. Its a great classic design and catches fish. There was been a trend however of cheapening the hardware on these lures over time. Frankly they are now sold with hardware, that is hooks, split rings and swivels, that will not hold up to the power of larger steelhead. Many of the lures come with those galvanized-looking hooks that break easily and lose their sharpness quickly. Most recently the swivels have been down-sized to a very wimpy size that I'm sure will not hold up. To add insult to injury, the price for these lures keeps rising to ridiculous levels. Brad's Wigglers offer a good alternative at a much lower price. I think I'm done with these lures once these wear out or are lost.

Great for mixing things up.

by MoonValley -

Hot Shots 2013

I use the #70 size in silver or perch when trolling for trout in small, inland lakes. My primary setup is a small wet fly behind a dodger, but when the sun is bright or the bite is otherwise off, the Hot Shot is a great way to mix things up and show the fish a different presentation. The #70 only has a 3-5' diving depth, but that's easily remedied with a little weight on a slider a couple feet in front of a dodger or 3-4' in front of the lure if fished by itself.
